One of my stories has been sent to Prairie Fire Magazine for consideration. I hope to hear back from them by the end of September but it could be as late as end of October before I have any news. They didn't send a quick reply so that means I didn't get auto-rejected right off the hop ... good sign!!
One of my stories is in the final editing stages. When it's polished it will be going to Asimov's Magazine of Science Fiction. I have high hopes for it but there are only 3 magazines that will even consider it because of the length and they're all big names.
I have 3 literary stories, one hard SF story, one soft SF story, and two SF/Fantasy stories all either planned out or in the works. These are all shorts for breaking into published markets. All my novels are in the works or undergoing severe editing.
On top of that I technically start work the 8th of September but how many people are going to call in sick that first month? Ah, the joys of subbing. So besides being short of money I should have time to get some of this work caught up. I'll have November-January off for Mat. leave (due end of October) but I won't have as much free time. I go back to work in February just as the absences and vacations start to pick up. So besides actually having money again my time will go out the window.
And that's me at the present moment. I have some photos and some pictures of paintings to load but I have no idea when I'll get around to it. I just realized that one of my projects may have been deleted off my laptop and I don't know if I want to restart it or not. Oh, and I have to start planning my wedding social which is in January. Whoo. Too much to do. Hopefully I won't be absent for 3 months this time.
